5G Wireless Solutions to Kick Off Campus-Wide Area Network(TM) Road Show -- Cedarville University Demonstration Event Scheduled for October 14
MARINA DEL REY, Calif. -- Oct. 11, 2005 -- 5G Wireless Solutions, Inc., an emerging leader in the wireless broadband industry and a portfolio company of 5G Wireless Communications, Inc. (OTCBB:FGWC -
News), a business development company, announced today that it will be taking its show on the road with a new location-based, "seeing is believing" marketing strategy, inviting college IT directors to experience the 5G Wireless Solution at existing campus installations.
The first of this series is scheduled for October 14 at Cedarville University (http://cedarville.edu/) in Cedarville, Ohio. The company has already lined up 38 attendees from 17 surrounding colleges who will participate in a "Planning a Wireless Campus" seminar, followed by a tour and demo of the 5G wireless broadband network currently in operation. Cedarville University is the first U.S. campus to utilize the
company's new "cellular-style" Wi-Fi base stations.
"Our experience suggests that no matter how well prospects understand Wi-Fi, 5G's next generation 'Access/Not Excess' value proposition represents such a disruptive new market approach that a live, hands-on technology demo at one of our campus installations is essential," stated Frank Simonelli, 5G's Vice President of Marketing. "Our strategy will thus become more geographically-focused to leverage our existing networks throughout the country. We will also tie-in to
scheduled trade show exhibitions to create other points-of-contact to schedule either future demos or actual installs. In this case, we're inviting those who cannot attend to stop by our booth at the annual EduCause conference in Orlando October 18. We're always looking to improve ROI on our marketing dollars, and we expect this strategy to represent a cost-effective alternative to most other forms of promotional spending."
5G provides the Cedarville campus with nearly 100% coverage utilizing only two cellular-style base stations. Other solutions would have required close to 100 individual access points, adding not only to initial capital equipment costs, but, more importantly, to ongoing operational expenses associated with administration and maintenance. An efficient and elegant solution, coupled with one of the lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) per sq. km metrics in the industry, has
become a hallmark of the 5G approach.
The 175-acre Cedarville campus is home to over 3000 students and 280 faculty members. Cedarville is a nationally-acclaimed Christian university located in southwestern Ohio, and was recently ranked in the top tier of regional colleges for the fourth consecutive year by U.S. News & World Report. The University has had a longstanding commitment to superior campus-wide networking technology, and is a recipient of the CAUSE Networking Award, bestowed by the international
Educause educational technology association, in recognition of integration of networking technology into the instructional program of a college or university.
Other 5G campuses currently include UCLA and CSULB in California; Franklin University, Ohio; College of DuPage, Ill.; Monmouth University, N.J., plus several others yet to be formally announced.
The October 14 Cedarville event is being co-presented with Springnet (http://www.springnet.cc/), a Dayton, Ohio-based WISP (Wireless Internet Service Provider), one of 5G's regional channel marketing partners.
